Done in 60 Seconds

For two years now Movie Maniacs have entered the Jameson’s Empire Done in 60 Seconds competition, where young film makers have to re-create their favourite films in just 60 seconds. Both years have been successful for Movie Maniacs although we’ve never made it through to the Empire Awards itself, we’ve secured a place at the International Final two years in a row.

John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) is one of our favourite films. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for the Prequel/Remake! So we thought what better way to mock the movie than to parody it for the Empire Jamesons Done in 60 Seconds competition.

The Thing  made it through to the international final for DISS 2012, but just fell short of the Empire Awards. However, TV presenter and guest Judge Alex Zane gave it a shout out and said he “thought the special effects in the Thing we’re better than the real movie.”

Movie Maniacs present their version of “The Fighter” in 60 Seconds for the Empire Jamesons Done in 60 Seconds competition. However, our spoof has a slight twist to the original story incorporating a whole variety of your favourite big screen boxing champions and a rather large cameo from Christian Bale’s the Dark Knight himself.

The Fighter made the UK Top 20 shortlist, unfortunately it didn’t recieve enough of the public vote to make it to the International final.

Movie Maniacs presents its entry for the 2011 Jameson Empire Done in Sixty Seconds (DISS) competition. Sixty seconds of pure Spartan slaughter as 300 men (or 3 and a green screen) stand against the formidable Persian Empire lead by the giant King Xerxes. This fast-paced take on Zack Snyder’s fantasy-epic got Movie Maniacs through to the International final but unfortunately was not enough to gain the team entry to the Awards final.

300 successfully made the international final for DISS 2011, narrowly missing out on the Empire Awards, but we did recieve a shout out from Empire Editor Mark Dinning.
